| My name is Gordon Batten.
I own and operate a small clay studio in Western North
Carolina about 10 miles from the Cherokee Indian Reservation.
About 20 years ago, I was asked to do some sinks for
a client who had bought one of my dinnerware sets. They
were building a new home here in the mountains and wanted
a sink similar in pattern and color as the dinnerware
for their new home.
As time passed, the sink became more and more
of a regular item. Now, sinks are the majority
of my concentration. My love of building and architecture
has been an encouragement for this type of item
and from the sinks, many more residential pieces
have developed.
The photos on the gallery page include some of my
latest work. As time goes on, I will be adding my
dinnerware, lighting pieces (Laayss sconces, etc.)
and sculptural work. |
